2019 Detroit Mercy Law Review Symposium: Women and the Law
Friday, March 8, 9:00 - 5:00 p.m., Room 226
Coinciding with International Women’s Day, the Law Review's 2019 symposium will feature discussions on prominent women’s issues in the law. Topics include education, employment, gender discrimination, reproductive rights and the #MeToo movement.The event is free and open to the public.

Portrait Unveiling Ceremony for Hon. Denise Langford Morris 
Friday, March 8, 5:00 - 6:30 p.m., Atrium 

During this special ceremony, a portrait of distinguished Detroit Mercy Law alumna and Oakland County Circuit Court Judge Denise Langford Morris '82 will be unveiled for permanent display at the School. The portrait, painted by Detroit artist Henry Heading, is a gift from Detroit Mercy Law student organizations: Student Bar Association, Law Review, Black Law Students Association and Women's Law Caucus.

McElroy Lecture on Law and Religion
"Why Buddhism and Law Has Been Excluded from the Canon"

The McElroy Lecture  provides a forum for prominent thinkers and leaders to address fundamental issues of law and religion. This year’s lecture, entitled “Why Buddhism and Law Has Been Excluded from the Canon,” will explore why the discipline of “Buddhism and Law” has never been accepted in the West as a type of "Religion and Law,” despite the fact that the Buddha inspired a law code that has been called the “founding charter” of Buddhism. A complimentary reception will follow in the atrium.
